Abstract
There is growing evidence that compounds of plant origin have the ability to prevent cancer. The term phytochemical applies to any plant-based substance. In the field of nutrition and cancer, this term is applied to nutritive and nonnutritive chemicals that occur naturally in fruits and vegetables. This article focuses on the colon cancer-preventive substances in food.
